Welcome to Grandview High School, home of the Greyhounds. As a staff, working with parents as partners, we want to provide every student with a structured learning environment where they are highly motivated to achieve academic excellence, to become organized and effective communicators, original thinkers, and responsible and respectful citizens. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing the best educational opportunities available and to delivering quality standards-based instruction, emphasizing critical thinking, decision-making, and problem solving.

Grandview High School encourages students to achieve their goals, offering them a variety of programs including Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), honors courses in Literacy and Social Studies, seven different Advanced Placement courses, Project Lead the Way Engineering courses, Microsoft certification opportunities, and many quality athletic programs. Our Navigation program (student advisory) has been recognized by the State of Washington as a model program. Our AVID program is working on becoming a national demonstration site.

At Grandview High School, we are concerned about the success of every student. With our dedicated staff, we offer comprehensive learning opportunities for all students. We believe that all students can learn and graduate prepared for college, work and life. The success of our students at Grandview High School has been, and will continue to be, based upon the commitment of our staff, parents, and dedicated community. I am devoted to building a sense of shared decision-making, because it is only when we all work together that we truly make a difference in the lives of our children.

As we support and nuture our students, the importance of building a strong and positive relationship with students, parents, teachers, and administration is key to building the foundation to your child's education. Our student-led conferences are an excellent example of this partnership.

Establishing open lines of communication with your student's teachers is an essential component in maintaining their educational success. I encourage you to have regular contact with your student's classroom teachers. When you need to contact your students teachers, please do not hesitate to call our office. Talk with your student daily on what happened during their day. Try to have your child describe in detail what they learned.

We take pride in every aspect of Grandview High School and insist that our students strive for excellence in their education here. Grandview High School is a place where our student's dreams are formed, and the goals for realizing these dreams are established. Developing the work ethic that allows those goals to be accomplished becomes paramount to our student's success. I look forward to working with all members of the Greyhound community.

Sincerely,
Mike Closner
